If you love your boring box cutter, but sprinkled it with your titanium-loving, EDC-knife enthusiasm, the end result would be this new framelock model. If you are sick of constantly having to re-sharpen, but love carrying and actually USING your favorite custom pocket knives, please consider this great option. Add it into your EDC rotation, and fall back in love with your daily cutting tasks. You get custom knife quality with ball-bearing pivot manual action, minus the drama of worrying about dulling the blade. When your blade goes dull, just unscrew the main blade holder screw with your thumb and remove the blade quickly and easily (tool free), to replace the blade. Overall, this is a super lightweight, smaller sized frame lock flipper which makes it great for EDC-ing. Even though it might be on the smaller side, its ergonomics are comfortable and allow for a confident grip. There is one small T6 torx screw on the front blade holder plate, that only needs to be removed if you want to give the interior portion of your blade holder a deep cleaning.

PLEASE NOTE: Some utility blade brands vary; due to the way their notches have been manufactured. We have tested several brands of blades and found that most fit in either direction. With some blades, you may not get the blade holder screw to go in flush. If that happens, flip the blade around the other way. You will never need to worry about using both ends of the blades with this knife, because this design allows for over 84% of the blade edge to be exposed. The tool holder blade-play amount may vary slightly, depending on the variety (thickness) and brand of your blade. As stated earlier, it all depends on how the blades were cut.

Please also be careful with your main blade holder screw when you decided to change out your blade, if you choose the screw-type version. Do so over a table preferably with a towel or cloth, and nowhere near any floor vents. If you lose that part, it will render your knife useless. If you ever need a replacement down the road, we will be able to sell you a replacement; just choose the appropriate replacement parts option above. We have set the price of the part to cover the cost plus shipping and handling. In the last several hundred sales, we have only had a select few customers lose their main thumb screw. Checking the screw often is good practice.

Decent flipper

I like the knife, the flipper is too tight. I hope over time it loosens up a bit, the action hurts for fingers after a few flips. The lockup is solid, no wiggle in the blade, seems well built. Only complaint is the stiff action. It will accept Lenox gold blades which is nice.

Thanks for the nice review, Shane! The key to loosening up that detent a bit on the Flipout, is just unscrewing the pivot screw about an eighth of a turn. Sometimes the assemblers go "HE-MAN" on them a bit too far. Heat up the threadlocker a bit with a heat gun or by touching a soldering iron to the main pivot screws on both sides, then loosen it a bit. These will break in on their own in time, but 9 times out of 10, it's just a tuning issue. We check everything in-house prior to shipment, but sometimes detent is one of those things where it is all subjective. I personally like a strong detent, so that I get regular deployment without any flip failures... but not everyone else does.

I'm going to do a full YouTube video review soon, showing all of the most popular brands of blades that fit the best, and show some of the variation between brands. You'd think that utility blades are "universal" but sadly, they're not! The blade manufacturers all make blades with a lot of variation, from thickness, to height, and even differences in the notches.

The other Version

I wound up buying the screw-lock version of this knife, and absolutely love it. Super simple action, and easy to fold back up. This is a quality item I'll keep on me for many years to come.
